In my picture panels I love working with clay. It is rolled, trowelled, scratched, built up, removed and very often stamped. Sometimes old and rusty iron pieces such as hinges, locks and nails find their place. Then comes the drying process and the colouring with oxides, natural coloured mineral powders and pigments. During the often weeks-long drying, the picture changes. It develops cracks and fissures and increasingly resembles parched earth and land that greedily absorbs the water with which I spray and paint it. Consequently, the themes of my pictures are mostly borrowed from the earth, from borders and from human history.
